The first thing to do is to make sure that if a problem arises you should speak to the operator’’s representative right away. This is to give the operator the opportunity the fix the problem and if they don”t you are more likely to be successful in receiving damages. Further, no one wants a bad holiday and if the problem is fixable then you may rescue a much-needed holiday that had been turning into a nightmare.
It is also best to take the brochure or the advertising details with you so you can check that everything has been described accurately. Whilst this might not be the first thing that springs to mind when packing for a holiday, if something goes wrong and you are able to prove that the description of the facilities was inaccurate the tour operator may be in breach of contract or have committed a crime under the Trade Descriptions Act.
If you have to pay for anything that should have been included in the holiday cost then you should make sure that you keep the receipts. It is often difficult to work out what should and shouldn”t have been paid for, but you will often find that anything to do with transport or the hotel itself should have been paid for.
If something goes wrong then it is best that you have voluminous evidence, just like complaining there and then, it’’s best not to do anything retrospectively so make sure that you keep some sort of record of poor facilities and take the addresses of other holidaymakers who will be able to back up your claim should you need support. Don”t, however, become obsessed with the process, if you are trying to get compensation there is always a chance that you won”t be able to get it and you don”t want to have ruined your holiday for no gain.
When you get home ask for a complaints form and keep a copy of your complaint for your own records. It is important to write to the tour operator within four weeks of your return otherwise it may be considered too late.
Any holiday that you pay for, particularly through a travel agent, shouldn”t carry an element of risk with it, but that element will be there and it’’s important that you cover yourself just in case. How to get through airport security quickly with the minimum of disruption

There are security check points in practically all transport terminals in the world these days. If you would like to get through those checks like the frequent flyer’s dothere are a couple of things to think about to make the process quicker and easier but plan ahead don’t try to do it all whilst stood in line.
Empty your pockets of loose change. Wallets and cell phones should go into one of those little bins they provide also. Remember heavy watches, bracelets, and belt buckles can set of the alarm, so take those off, and stow them in your carry-on bag before you get to the front of the line or put them in the bins.
Think about buying snacks and drinks etc after you have cleared the security and this is particualry important with young children
In the United States you are required to take off your shoes and this is now becoming a requirement of more countries so ensure you have untied laces or unzipped boots before you get to the front of the line and even better think about traveling in light slip on shoes to make it even easier.
Have your one quart/one liter plastic bag with your liquids, creams and gels out of your carry-on, and put it in a bin. Remember each liquid should be 3 ounces/100 ml or less, right? There shouldn’t be any loose liquids in your carry-on bag. If you have “medically necessary” liquids or baby food, in most countries, those can be outside of your plastic bag allowance, but you must notify a screening officer.
Have a plan when you put things into bins on the screening belt. If you put things through the screening in the right order, you’ll be able to put yourself back together faster afterward. Here’s a good way to do this.
First put your shoes, coat and your carry-on “personal item” (usually your smaller bag) in the first bin. They will come through the x-ray first, and you can be putting them back on while you’re waiting for your other items to be screened.
It is more common now for people to carry laptop computers o to the plane. Take the laptop out of the carry case and put the case in the first bin so you can be ready to put the laptop back with the minimum of fuss.
You will annoy your fellow travelers AND the screening agents if you stand there and try to put those shoes on…. leaving your bin on the screening belt with others backing up behind yours. Airports report that almost half of all security checkpoint bottlenecks are caused by people putting themselves together after screening without moving to the side…. don’t let this be you!
